English Watchers See Great Fire Across Channel
LONDON, May 25. Watchers on the south-east coast of England early today saw a great fire raging crosss the Channel. The glare lit up the sea and the seafront of a French coastal town. Dense columns of smoke were rising into the sky all day from the battlefields on the French coast, reaching a height of three miles, while the detonations of bombs dropped by aircraft flying from the British coast shook doors and windows in British towns.
