O’Connor Gives Match to Blomfield
WRESTLING
[Special to “Northern Advocate.”! AUCKLAND, This Day. In a wrestling match at the Town Hall on Saturday night, Dan O’Connor, Irish-American heavyweight wrestler, knocked himself out when he landed on the mat on the back of his neck in the seventh round. It was then an easy task for a body press for Sergeant-Major Lofty Blnmfieid. C’Connor had not recovered sufficiently to be able to keep going when the gong sounded for the opening of the final round, and Blomfield was declared the winner. Before this incident O'Connor had a fall in hand, having gained a -submission in the fifth round by means of a combination of a reverse octopus clamp and surfboard. O’Connor was making his first appearance in Auckland, and pleased the audience with his all-round ability. Blomfield weighed 16st. 81b. and O’Connor 16st. 121 b.
