Wholehearted Response To Call For Prayer

(Received 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 26. Their Majesties, together with Queen Wilhelmina, Mr Churchill, and other members of the Cabinet, attended a service at Westminster Abbey.

The nation’s response to the King’s stirring call to prayer was complete and wholehearted. Cathedrals, churches of the big cities, mission hails and chapels of the distressed areas and villages, were crowded throughout the day. Many Sunday street markets, including the historic Petticoat Lane, remained closed. Sydney Response A cable from Sydney says that pursuant to His Majesty’s request, a day of national prayer was observed in New South Wales yesterday. Special services were held in all churches, which v/ere crowded and often overflowing.
