Town Tit-Bits
Bridge has taken precedence over mah jongg this week as far as parties are concerned, and there have been quite a number of cheery gatherings 1 around glowing log fires—so welcome in this chilsome weather. A number of our well-knowns are elsewhere for the school holidays, but this seems to be balanced by numerous visitors to Ihe town. Mrs D. J. Goodwin was wearing a navy blue woollen georgette frock on Thursday, when she invited a number of friends to her home for afternoon tea and a chat. In the drawing room gorgeous giant dahlias looked most attractive, and some of those there were Mesdames A. P. Morgan, Waugh, W. J. Glanville, Terry Minhinnick, W. E. Crawford, Dearn Grayson, H. K. Brainsby and Miss Patricia Ryder. Mrs A. J. Pope, of Wellington, who is staying with her daughter, Mrs J. W. Hall, has been entertained at numerous parties this week. Mrs A. H. Crane had contract bridge at her home on Monday afternoon. Fragrant sweet peas and pink dahlias made charming decoration, and the hostess, wearing a rust model frock, received the guests, among whom were Mesdames C. E. Woolley, T. H. Wilson, R. Kay, W. J. Orr, H. A. Good, R. Laurie. T. Stewart, W. H. Millington, R. C. Napier. D. M. Beere, A. M. Long, H. N. Geissler, R. K. Radcliffe, Ferner, J. W. Hall, Spencer Day, A. R. Ryder, Harold Cotter, L.
