Jesus Healing The Blind Man Outside Jericho

& In a world torn with war and tyranny, religion has come to the fore with a new significance, and although it is many years since a picture with a sacred theme has been shown, Mr R. G. Nelson, publicity director of World Film Productions, Ltd., announced in the course of an interview, that a picture depicting the life of Christ from Annunciation to Resurrection, will be screened at the Plaza Theatre j next • Tuesday and Wednesday. In “Manger to Cross,” the real atmos- ■ phere of the days in which Christ lived is captured, but, it must be understood, without any of the so-called “glamour” which a modern American production would tend to bestow on it. All the players are anonymous, and though their names, if published, would mean little to the average filmgoer, their acting ability is good ! A commentary by the Rev. Brian Hession, M.A. (London), accompanies the story, and lends added interest. This is the third revival throughout the 'world of “From Manger to Cross,” and tributes have been showered upon it from notables of all denominations, two noteworthy eulogies coming from Dr. Winnington-Ingram, Bishop of London, and Cardinal Hinsley, Archbishop of Westminster. In 1938 a Royal command screening was ordered. In Auckland, 8000 children and 12,000 adults attended the State Theatre during its two weeks' season, and the New. Zealand clergy, after previewing the picture, endorsed it as a religious film worth while to the community in general, and to the Christian Church in particular. “Our Royal Heritage” An associate feature of vital interest is to be screened with “From Manger to Cross,” a picture showing the might of Britain’s Army, Navy and Air Force, and her enormous industrial development and the resources at her disposal. Titled “Our Royal Heritage,” it is a telling answer to the Nazi claim that the British Empire is declining.
