Britain Offers Hungary Aid To Resist Germany
LONDON, May 9. Diplomatic circles reveal that the British Minister (Mr Owen O’Malley) has requested .a declaration of the Hungarian attitude, in the event of Germany sending troops to Hungary, says the Budapest correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain. Mr O’Malley is reported to have offered the Hungarian Prime Minister (Count Teleki) British military and aerial support if Hungary resisted. Count Teleki replied that his attitude would be dictated by circumstances. The British Ambassador to Turkey (Sir Hugh Knatchbull-Hugessen) has left Sofia after a week’s conference with the Bulgarian Cabinet. Yugoslav-Italian Parley. The Deputy-Premier of Yugoslavia (M. Matchek) conferred with the Italian Minister today. ~ Their conversation is believed to have been concerned with the reported Italian troop concentrations on Yugoslav borders. From Belgrade is announced that a Yugoslavian military delegation, headed by the Chief of National Defence (General Maximovich) will go to Moscow shortly. The anniversary of the founding of the Italian Empire will be celebrated in Rome today by a military parade.
