Prices Advance At Westfield

[Special to' “Northern Advocate'’] AUCKLAND, This Day. At the Westfield fat stock sale yesterday late rates were maintained in most classes, and the only exception was sheep, for which prices showed an advance. The yarding was a full one. Beef and pig entries were smaller than at the previous sale, while calves were yarded in average numbers. The demand was keen for a full sheep yarding, and values improved over late sales, wethers making 32/6, compared with 31/ last week. Pigs were yarded in smaller numbers, and all classes sold readily to a keen demand. Averages were unchangd. Among the individual consignments, top price for steers was £ls 12/6 made for a consignment from Mr A. Trewin, of Marohemo. An entry of cattle from Messrs J. and M. Mcßae, Maungaturoto, sold to £8 15/. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report: Sheep.—Extra heavy prime wethers, £1 11/ to £1 12/6; heavy, £1 9/ to £1 10/6; medium, £1 7/ to £1 8/6; light, £1 5/ to £1 6/6; plain and unfinished, £l3/ to £1 4/6; heavy prime young and maiden ewes, £1 3/ to £1 5/; heavy, £1 1/ to £1 2/6; lighter, 19/ to £1; plain and aged, 14/ to 17/6. Lambs.—Heavy prime lamb, £l7/ to £1 8/; medium, £1 5/ to £1 6/6: lighter, £1 3/ to £1 4/6; light, £1 to £1 2/6; small and plain, 17/6 to 19/. Calves.—Runners, £5 to £7 4/; heavy vealers, £4 to £4 17/; medium, £3 10/ to £3 15/; light, £3 2/ to £3 9/; small, £2 10/ to £3; smaller, £1 10/ to £2; plain and unfinished, £1 to £1 9/; b,pbby calves, 8/ to 18/. Pigs.—Choppers. £4 to £5; heavy baconers, £4 5/ to £4 12/; medium, £4 to £4 4/; light, £3 10/ to £3 15/; heavy porkers, £2 15/ to £3; medium, £2 to £2 10/; light, £1 15/ to £2; small, £1 to £1 9/; stores sold at advanced rates.
