Heavy Going, Slow Times At Ellerslie

[Special to “Northern Advocate”] AUCKLAND, This Day. As the result of heavy rain overnight. the going was very heavy at Ellerslie this morning, and consequently limes were slow. No. 3 grass track was open and several horses were schooled over hurdles and steeplechase fences. Tybalt was worked over six furlongs, but was not timed, while Kelly and British Talent were also allotted useful tasks. Agog, assisted by Brazilian, was timed to run 1.25 for the last six furlongs of a round, the last four taking 56 4-5 secs. Royal Appellant was allotted .a siiriilar task, the last six furlongs being covered in 1.26 2-5. Lady Aeushla and Bronze Emerald completed a round in 1.46. They ran the last seven in 1.37 3-5, and the final six in 1.22. Both handled the going welL Royal Abb Restrained, Royal Abb was under restraint while traversing a round in 2min. He increased the speed over the last three furlongs, which he covered in 41secs. After running his first three furlongs in 39. 3-ssecs, Llandaff was not extended to complete six furlongs in *1.20 2-5. Gay Belle came home from the three-furlong post in 40 2-ssecs. Penzance strode over a round, but was not doing better than 15secs to the furlong. Royal Message finished in front of Valmint .and Akanora at the conclusion of six furlongs, which took 1.21 4-5. Vaalso hit out freely over five furlongs, which took 1.8 2-5. Over a similar distance Master Warden and Silver Glow took 1.12 3-5. They had very little in reserve. Frince Tractor was sent over a round, taking 1.51 3-5. The Jumpers. Bide-a-Wee and Bright Idea cleared four hurdles in a satisfactory manneh Loyal Grant led Val Spear over four hurdles. ( Beverley and Sinking Fund cleared a couple of pony hurdles twice, making no mistakes. -I'].' Right Royal led Baloric and Clansman over the sod wall double find r.tone wall; all three jumped well. | All Irish was well clear of Thrush throughout a round of the steeplechase course.
