Mata Spinsters' Ball
That the young ladies of today are every bit as capable ,as their masculine counterparts was proved on Wednesday night, when the Mata spinsters held one of the most enjoyable dances that the district has ever known. The Mistress of Ceremonies, Miss Erin Sloane, took charge of the festivities in a most able manner, and saw to it that not a single dull moment marred the evening. During the first part of the programme the usual order was reversed, the ladies being instructed to choose their partners, and it is a tribute to them that they allowed the young men no time to be bashful, but made their choice in .a most businesslike manner, ensuring that none of the men were left languishing as “wallflowers.” After supper, the order was changed, Mr George Amos taking charge of proceedings. The males profited by their lesson in ballroom etiquette, with the result that everybody was reluctant to hear the final dance announced. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Eileen Draffin and Mr R. Jenkins, while Miss Molly Hoban .and Mr G. Smith were successful in a statue Boomps-a-Daisy competition. Among those present were; Mesdames W. J. Doar, white satin; Paki, navy frock; S.
