Otaika

The Otaika branch of the National Party held its annual meeting on Saturday evening at Mr Holmes’s residence. The outgoing committee was re-elected. Mr Vyle (chairman) and Mr Murray (secretary) were appointed delegates to the annual meeting of the Whangarei branch on April 30. On Saturday evening the district residents congregated at the hall to farewell Mrs Poolman, senr., and Captain F. Poolman. Dancing provided the evening’s entertainment. The music was supplied by Mrs McLennan, and Mr J. Kerr undertook the duties of M.C. Supper was served by the ladies of the hall committee. In making ,a presentation to the guests of honour, Mr Steedman expressed the esteem in which they had always been held, and testified to the invaluable help they had given in promoting the social life and sports clubs of the district. Captain Poolman and Mrs Poolman each suitably responded.
