Ministers To Address Auckland West Voters
[Special to “Northern Advocate”] AUCKLAND, This Day. The Prime Minister <Mr Fraser) is to speak at the Franklin Road Mission Hall on Monday. May G, at the official opening of the Labour Party’s campaign in the Auckland West by-election. On the following Monday, the Minister for Internal Affairs (Mr Parry) will address the electors in the St. James’ Hall, Wellington Street. Endeavours are also being made to arrange for the Minister for Finance (Mr Nash) to speak on May 15. No Democratic Labour Candidate. The Democratic Labour Party does not propose to enter a candidate for the Auckland West by-election, according to Mr J. A. Lee, M.P. “Before we contest a seat we shall have adequate preparation, organisation and funds.” he said. Mr Lee added that they aimed at getting the basis of a North Island organisation together before the session. “Temporarily we must leave the official selected ‘yes man’ alone. “Obviously, powerfully centralised control is accompanied by a deterioration in the quality of candidates,” Mr Lee went on.
