“Advocate” Office, Water Street, Whangarei. Tuesday, April 30, 1940. ■ Helio Everybody— H.Q. is doing Us best to resemble a temporary hospital. The S.P. has a cold in his head, accompanied by a “sniffle,” while Kupe has a very bad cold, accompanied by hot lemon drinks, aspirins and cough cure. He complains that he’s not getting any sympathy, but don’t you believe it. I’ve suggested every cure ever heard of, from sleeping with his head out the window to eating raw onions (neither of which appeals to him), and I’ve dosed him with everything available. Surely practical sympathy is the most valuable. Such ingratitude is very upsetting! Congratulations to the winners of the Centennial and Ford Company’s competitions. I didn’t judge either of them, but I did enjoy the letters about the Exhibition. While I was in Taranaki, someone asked, “Have you seen the Exhibition?” and I quite truthfully replied, “Yes, through the eyes and pens of crowds of Young Northianders.” And I really felt I had. Oh, dear! There’s Kupe calling for his cough mixture. Cheerio till next week. Princess, Northland Tribe.
