Hikurangi Women’s Institute

Mrs Thomas presided over a good attendance at the monthly meeting, held in the Parish hall, on Wednesday, April 10. Before the commencement of business, the members stood in silence for one minute, as a tribute in memory of the late Prime Minister. The election of officers resulted: President, Mrs Thomas; vice-presi-dent. Mrs Edwards; secretary, Mrs Cossill; treasurer, Mrs White; committee, Mesdames Malcolm, Beeston, Brighouse, Bell, Mulligan, Tomlinson, Dixon and Palmer. The competition was a plate of scones. This was won by Mrs White, with Mrs Barstow second. After the hostesses had served afternoon tea the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
