Little Life In Stock Market

There was very little life in the market when the Auckland Stock Exchange held its morning call today.
Banks and insurances were .about the same, but Bank of Australasias changed hands at £lO, an' increase of 15/- since they last figured on the sales list in June. An odd lot of N.S.W. sold 2/6 down.
South British insurance changed hands at the last sale price bf £2 9/6 and had further buyers. Breweries were quoted strongly and New Zealands had business at the unchanged price of £1 16/9. Buyers predominated in the miscellaneous section, sellers showing little willingness to make concessions. A parcel of New Zealand Newspapers changed hands at £1 7/3. This was the first sale of these shares this month, and the pride was unchanged. Broken Hills finished with only 3d between buyers and sellers, buyers offering 3d more than at the final call yesterday and holders being prepared to take 6d less. Government loans were again in demand at firm rates, with a few sellers, while there was a good list of local body debentures, Sales completed at the 12.15 p.m. cal ltoday were: Bank of N.Z., £2 1/9; South British Insurance, £2 9/6; Auckland Gas (paid), 17/1; Broken Hill Pty„ £2 12/-; Amalgamated Brick (Auckland), 1/3/44, 6 per cent, £IOO 10/-.
