Whangarei apparently received only the tail-end of the cyclonic storm for which radio warnings were sent out on Saturday night. Although the main force of the storm v/as promised for Sunday morning, Northland experienced its worst weather on Saturday night. During the day heavy rain showers fell and the night was stormy, with high winds. By 9 a.m. on Sunday, ,68in. of rain were recorded at the meteorological observatory in Nixon Street. Sunday dawned fine with wind at times during the day.. So far as can be ascertained, no damage was caused by the wind in Northland. Reports from down-harbour indicate that launches fared well, and an Onerahi resident reported that no damage had been caused there.
