Oil Ban May Cripple Nazi Airmen

(Received 3 p.m.) BUCHAREST, February 21. Oil circles in Bucharest think that the Rumanian decree reported yesterday. forbidding the shipment of .aviation petrol, may cripple the German Air Force. Semi-officially it is explained that Ihc ban is necessary to preserve Rumanian reserves against an emergency. The decree, it is reported, followed renewed British .and French pressure. Rumanians abroad, born in 1921, have been notified to return for service. It is learned in informed London circles that the Rumanian Minister in London has handed a Note to Viscount Halifax containing information asked for by Lord Halifax concerning the functions of the recently-appointed Rumanian Oil Board, and the present position of the Rumanian oil supplies to Germany. The British Government is considering this reply, but no statement as to the impression it has made is yet available, says a British Official Wireless message.
