’ The Whangarei Amateur Athletic Club continued its series of weekly points meetings in the High School grounds last evening. Highlight of the evening was another great mile run by Claude Philpott, who, running from scratch, justgot up in time to take first place in a fast race. Ladies’ 100yds.—Miss Barber (4yds) 1, Miss Boag (Byds) 2, Miss Patterson (11yds) 3. Time, 12 3-ss. Men’s 120yds.—Stanton (11yds) 1, W. Dickie (10yds) 2, C. Philpott (9yds) 3. Time, 12 3-ss. Ladies’ 75yds—Miss Blake (4yds) 1, Miss Barber (Iyd) and Miss Boag (4yds) dead heat 2. Time, 8 4-ss. One mile, men. —C. Philpott (scr) 1, R. Mackenzie (120yds) 2, N. Dyer (90yds) and M. Hore (70yds) deadheat 3. Time, 4.37 4-5. Long jump.—Bedggood 1, M. Hore 2, N. Dyer 3. Distance, 20ft 4ins. Provincial Championships. A special message from Auckland states that large fields will contest the Auckland Provincial Amateur Athletic Championship at Carlaw Park on Saturday. Without exception, the best athletes of the province will be taking part, entries being received from Tauranga, Te Kuiti, Matamata, Hamilton and j Whangarei. ; Philpott’s handicap in the 100yds' junior and 880yds junior races have been withheld.
