Firmer.— The mobilisation of American securities has not affected the stock market appreciably. Some of the mobilised issues are firmer. Meat.—The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food. Mr A. T. Lennox-Boyd, said today: “I think we can claim without boasting that the home meat supply situation is improving very considerably.” He revealed that the current week’s offerings for sale to the Ministry showed a considerable increase. R.A.F. in East.— The Under-Secre-tary for Air, Captain H. H. Balfour, landed in England today after a ten days’ tour by air of R.A.F. units in the Near and Middle East. He flew approximately 7000 miles and visited units in Palestine, Irak and Egypt. Canal’s Neutrality. —A message from Washington says the spokesman of the State Department said the German claim that Britain had violated neutrality by taking the captured steamer Dusseldorf with prisoners on board, through the Panama Canal, was untenable, as the Canal was an internationl highway. Aliens Dismissed. —A message from Detroit says large orders from the War Department are in hand, and the Detroit motor manufacturing companies are dismissing all alien workers. Rumania.— -A message from Bucharest says the Prime Minister, M. Tatarescu, in announcing a new censorship decree, said: “Rumania’s foreign policy has been the subject of .a hidden campaign aimed at embarrassing the Government, and sabotaging unity in Rumania. Those saboteurs will be firmly suppressed.”
