Waimari Air Crash Due To Error
DUNEDIN, This Day. A statement regarding the finding of the court of inquiry into the accident to the Baffin bomber at Waimari Beach, when three members of the Royal New Zealand Air Force lost their lives, was made by the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F, Jones, yesterday. He said the court had found that the aircraft and its engines were serviceable before the flight and that there was no failure of the controls or any other part of the structure in flight. The accident, he said, was due to an error of judgment. The aircraft lost flying speed when coming out of a turn and did not have sufficient height to recover from the resulting spill.
