Roosevelt Inspects Panama Canal Defences
BALBOA, February 18. The president of the United States, Mr Roosevelt, arrived at Christobal, Panama Canal Zone, on board the cruiser Tuscaloosa. After inspecting the canal defences, particularly secret work involving an expenditure of 362,000,000 dollars, he sailed for the Pacific. It is believed that the President intends to fish off Pearl or Cocos Island. Later, he will confer with the President of Panama, Senor Augusto Boyd, who is chairman of the PanAmerican conference.
