Death Of Mangapai Pioneer

ISpecial to "Northern Advocate ” 3 AUCKLAND, This Day. The death has occurred of Mrs. Maria Louisa Crawford, who had lived for 40 years in the same house at Mt. Eden. She was aged 88. She was born in Yorkshire, and came to New Zealand with her parents in the ship Whirlwind in 1859. The family was the second to settle in the Mangapai district. * In 1871 she married the late Captain James Crawford, who for many years was in charge of ships of the Northern Company on the New Zealand coast. | Captain Crawford's parents, who came ■ from Scotland, settled at Mangapai a; few months after his wife’? family. , Mrs, Crawford is survived by two 1 sons and one daughter.
