A Dreadful Offence
[Per Press Association.— Copyright.'] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. ‘‘You have committed a dreadful offence under dreadful circumstances,” said Mr. Justice Northcroft in the Supreme Court yesterday, when sentencing Frederick Charles Rhode Clark to five years' imprisonment with hard labour for rape. The judge remarked that the victim was an invalid, incapable of defending herself or calling for help.
