Blum Attacks French Censorship Blunderings
PARIS, February 17. The Socialist leader (M. Blum), in the Chamber of Deputies, made a severe attack on the- censorship when he opened a debate on the control of the Press. * , He said an incompetent military personnel had been appointed. It had discredited itself by ignorance of the conditions under which the Press worked. It had made impossible demapds on the newspapers, upon which it had inflicted heavy losses. The policy of the censors was incoherent .and suppressed news to spme newspapers and released it to others. It was impossible to keep France like a fortress—cut off from the world’s news as 'in the last war. The bad wireless services were ineffective. The debate was adjourned.
