Club Rugby Should Carry On, Says President

It was the Rugoy Union's duty to provide football for all who desired to play during the war years. This was the opinion expressed by the president of the North Auckland Rugby Union (Mr. L. J. Brake) at a meeting of the Union in Whangarei last night. It was not the Union’s duty, nor its right to debar men of military age from playing football, as the union was not in a position to know each man’s circumstances. Mr. Brake said these remarks applied to club games. Senior inter-union matches were a different matter, and it was possible that these should be discontinued during the war years. No decision was made by the union, but the whole question will be discussed at the annual meeting to be held in Whangarei on April 12.
