Te Karae

The annual general meeting was held at Mrs Bates’ residence. Mrs JD. Dyer, of Paponga, opened the meeting. Eight members were present. Mrs Bates was appointed president, Mrs S. Smith, treasurer, and Mrs J. Wotton Williams, secretary. Mrs Dyer was very helpful and informative. A letter was read from a link in England. The January meeting of the Insti--tute was held in the Te Karae School. J Mrs Nash and Mrs F. Eutler were j welcomed as new members, j Mrs J. Butler’s thought for the month ! was: ‘The pleasures of life are many, but friendship is the greatest of any.” The roll call was “eggless cake recipe.” Mrs J. Butler tied with Mrs J. W. Williamson for the best Christmas cake competition. Mrs Bates was second. Mrs J. H. Williams gave a demonstation of smocking. Mrs J. Butler Was hostess for after- • noontea. which \va3 delightful.
