I Sow cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, dwarf beans, spinach, turnips, silver beet. Plant cabbage and cauliflower. Plant leeks for winter use. Marrows and pumpkins will still benefit with liquid manure. Spray tomatoes; remove lateral shoots. S Sow oats or other soiling crop for ! digging-in later. This is important. Leeks and celery will benefit'by applications of weak liquid manure. t , Lift and throw back kumera vines to prevent their rooting at the joints.
W®A You Should Do
Onions and shallots may be lifted and stored as soon as they are ready. It is better to string onions than to sack them. They keep better and are more easily inspected. The present is an excellent time foil digging and trenching. After removing a crop, give the soil a good work over, and leave it to air for a week or two. Potatoes should be carefully stored. Don’t expose them to the attack of the potato moth. Make a sowing of endive for winter salad. Lift potatoes as soon as the tops have died down.
