Nazis Planned To Steal Turkish Sub?
(Received 3 p.m.) LONDON, February 12. “The Times” Belgrade correspondent says that the seizure of the Krupps yards on February 9 prevented any German attempts to a Turkish submarine. Two submarines were already launched, one was nearly ready when 20 extra ’specialists arrived from Germany, for the trials. The Turks became suspicious the specialists suggested that, in view of the danger, the first trials should be with an entirely German crew. Suspicion increased when stores far in excess of those needed for the trial were demanded.
