Two Matches In Bay Cricket
Two matches, postponed on account of rain earlier in the second round, were played off in the Bay contest on Sunday. The matches were between Kaikohe and Punakitere, and Kerikeri and Rangiahua. Moerewa and Chaeawai. who had played their matches, had byes. Kaikohe obtained a four point win over Punatikere after an evenly fought first innings match. Floyd, W. Graham, Crawley, and Bott struck good batting form, for, although their totals were not high, they were good compared with the state of the wicket and the out-field. Batting honours went to J. Smith, of Kaikohe. who took 4 for 13 runs in the early stages of Punatikere’s second knock. Punatikere. 65 (W. Graham 23, B. Knightsbridge 11; Coleman 3 for 17). Kaikohe. 96 (Floyd 37, Crawley 21,, J. Smith 11; G. White 3 for 26). Playing against time, Punatikere made 82- in their second knock, which concluded play (Bott 23, Knightsbridge 35, White 11 n. 0.; Smith 4 for 13, Colexnan 4 for 35>.
