[Special to “Northern Advocate I ’l AUCKLAND, This Day. A man who will celebrate his 22nd birthday on February 29 was born 92 years ago. He is Mr John Jones, of Church Street, Penrose, ioho claims to be the oldest Leap-year baby in Neiv Zealand. After farming in Canada, where he was born, Mr Jones came to New Zealand in 1888, and settled in Buckland, where he became a noted breeder of, sheep, horses, cattle and pigs. Mr Jones retired in 1912. His mental faculties are today unimpaired, and he is looking forward to his next birthday in 1944. Death of Aratapu Pioneer [Special to “Northern Advocatel DARGAVILLE, This The death has occurred of Mrs T. Bassett, aged 72. Mrs Bassett, who was one of the pioneers of the Aratapu district, eatne to New Zealand at the age of three, with her parents. She is survived by two sons and one daughter.
