Fined £lo On Gaming Charge
Stated by police and defending counsel to have quit taking bets, Ronald Scott, hairdresser of Hikurangi, was fined £lO in the Whangarei Court today.
Scott pleaded guilty to a charge of having used premises at Hikurangi as a common gaming' house. Detective J. B. Finlay said that, receiving information that Scott was allegedly a bookmaker’s agent, . a constable had taken two bets widen Scott had rang through to a bookmaker in Whangarei, who had since been convicted.
The police had since searched his shop and had found only two. old bets. Scott had said he had given up the business of taking bets.
