Big Demand For Petrol
“Fillerup!” That command was most common to Whangarei garage attendants today, the last day for obtaining petrol before the reimposition of restrictions. Garages report continued and heavy business throughout today, cars following each other to bowser pumps in quick succession. Attendants have had little let-up, and as this afternoon drew o.\ they were beginning to feel the effects of the hot weather and continuous demands on their time. Unless information to the contrary is received, Whangarei garages intend remaining open tonight. “We might as well, because we won t be doing anything tomorrow,” commented one owner. Coupons Again. Coupons previously issued for supplies of petrol for pleasure cars will again come into use. "When the rationing scheme was suspended for the holiday period, motorists were warned that they would have to retain possession of coupon sheets, provision has been made for the issue of duplicate coupons to replace any lost or misplaced.
