Crowning Of Russell’s Centennial Queen

RUSSELL, Tuesday.

Russell’s Centennial pageant was concluded last evening with the coronation of the Centennial Queen (Miss June Baker).

A concert programme preceded the coronation ceremony which was held in the Town Hall. The programme was Acrobatic dance, Pat Fraser; song, Don Brooker; character dance. Norman Fraser; duet, Lorna and Don Brooker; eccentric dance, Carol Fraser; recitation, Fay Hodgson: duo, Pat and Norman Fraser; trio dance, Carol, Pat and Norman Fraser. Maori items were also included. Mr T. J. V. Dunlop, of Kawakawa, was master of ceremonies.

Those taking part in the coronation, apart from Miss June Baker, were; Misses J. Adamson, M. Williams, B. Warne, Patty Williams, Rona Williams, Lorna Brooker, Olive Shadlock, Norah Rotheram, Elva Hall, Shirley Williams, Merner Aldridge, M. Sommerville, B. Wilcox, M. Simpson, Pat Fraser; Masters T. Oates, W. King, Brian Campi, M. Aldridge, M. Rivers, Messrs J. Armitage, J. H. Keenan and D. W. Woodcock.
