Railways Staff Promotions

[Per Press Association. Copyright] WELLINGTON, This Day. The Minister for Railways (Mr D. G. Sullivan) announced today that the Government had decided to accede to the request of Mr 11. Valentine to retire from the position of second assihrnt general manager of railways as from January 31. Promotions were announced as follow; :

Mr James Sawers, district traffic manager at Auckland, to succeed Mr E. Casey ,as assistant general manager, from February 1.

Mr G. S. Reid, assistant district traffic manager at Auckland, to be district traffic manager at Auckland. Mr A. E. R. Greaves, district traffic manager at Dunedin, to be district traffic manager at Wellington. Mr G. H. McLean, assistant district traffic manager at Christchurch, to be district traffic manager at Christchurch.

Tv'lr R. ,T. A. Sterling, assistant traffic manager .at Dunedin, to be district traffic manager at Dunedin. Mr A. J. Pritchard, assistant district traffic manager at Wanganui, to its district traffic manager at Wanganui.
