Yugoslav Destroyer Hits Reef; Sinks

(Received 2.30 p.m.) ROME, January 25

The Yugoslav destroyer Ljubljana struck a reef off Sebenico and sank. The French wireless states that the captain of the Ljubljana has been placed in custody, pending an official inquiry. The reef tore a big hole in the side of the destroyer. The destroyer tried to make port, but sank close to the shore, to which some of the crew swam.

Others were rescued by fishing boats, and all were saved, except one engineer.
