Farmer Seriously Hurt In Rail-Car Collision

A farmer, Mr. R. Thomasen, aged 62, of Atea, near Eketahuna, was seriously injured when a collision occurred between a railcar and a motor c,ar at a level crossing near Pahiatua. The railcar, which was crowded with passengers, struck the smaller vehicle broadside on and carried it for 50 or 60 yards along the line.
The motor car was wrecked and was pinned beneath the undercarriage of the railcar. A doctor and ambulance were called from Pahiatua, and Mr. Thomasen was taken to the Pahiatua Hospital. His 'is very serious. The railcar did not leave the line, and passengers escaped with a severe shaking. They were transferred to a goods train, and were taken to Woodville.
