Send-Off At Kaikohe

KAIKOHE, This Day. Kaikohe’s Maori recruits received a royal farewell at a public function on Tuesday evening. A dance and concert was held in the Maori Hall under the supervision of a number of Maori returned soldiers, and a very large number of Maoris from all carts of the district attended.

Dancing occupied the greater part of the evening, although a number of native songs were rendered. Music was provided by an impromptu but enthusiastic orchestra. Several returned soldiers made short speeches, wishing the recruits the best of luck in their military careers.
