Italy Blames France For Loss Of Life In Blazing Liner

(Received 1 p.m.) ROME, January 24. Despite the French Admiralty reports from Marseilles, that passengers in the Italian liner Orazio, which caught fire off Barcelona, were all rescued, Italian sources still insist that a number are missing. Mussolini’s newspaper, “II Popoio d’ltaha,” publishes a Gen,oa report blaming the French for loss of life in the Orazio, because “a French patrol delayed the liner four hours to remove German passengers. “The Orazio would nave been able to reach Barcelona and save all the passengers if those hours had not been lost.” An investigation revealed the fact that the fire on the Orazio started after a series of explosions in the port motor. Members of the crew said that sparks from a seized piston exploded the fuel oil.
