Stirring Action Film At Regent Theatre

Revealing a chapter of Western history entirely different from the usual cowbow-sheriff offering. “Timber Stampede” is a vivid story of landgrabbing. This film, which opened at the Regent Theatre last evening and which will be screened tonight as an additional attraction on the programme 'featuring Gracie Fields in “Shipyard Sally,” relates the story of two shady promoters endeavouring to build a railway into heavily-timbered range area, thereby ruining the range for cattle-raising and bankrupting the cattlemen.

Fighting to defend the rights of the cattlemen, George O’Brien finds himself up against a tough crowd of lumberjacks and a complaisant court and a subsidised newspaper run by a girl (Marjorie Reynolds) who acts unwittingly. O’Brien succeeds in obtaining evidence disclosing the illegal methods of the timber barons, and, convincing the girl, brings out a special edition publicising the schemes of the crooks. The lumberjacks seek revenge and O’Brien fights a hard battle in a thrilling climax.
