Invercargill Mayor Enlists For Overseas

[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] INVERCARGILL, This Day.

The Mayor of Invercargill (Mr J. R. Hanan) has enlisted for active service with the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Mr Hanan, who is a barrister and solicitor, and the holder of many important public positions, will probably leave for camp in three weeks.

Mr Hanan became a member of the National Military Reserve, Class 1, on its inception last year, and several months later he joined the Territorial Force in the Southland Regiment. In subsequent training he gained the rank of corporal.
