New, Important Post For Chief Censor

LONDON, January 8. Tlie “Daily Herald” says the Chief Censor (Vice-Admiral Usborne) was asked to resign, and consented. He will shortly take up another Government post. The office now lapses, and supreme control will be vested in Sir Walter Monckton, who was appointed Controller of Censorship last October. Vice-Admiral Usborne becomes managing director of a ship construction firm, which is entirely devoted to Government work. He is working out a new idea, which will become a very big project. The Home Office states that the new work Vice-Admiral Usborne will undertake is of national importance, for which his experience in the Service will particularly qualify him. It is connected with specialised naval construction under contracts for the Admiralty.
