Nazis Hold Italian Planes For Finland
(Received 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, January 8
The German Government has held up a number of Italian planes destined for Finland and railed across Germany to a Baltic port. Informed sources state that Germany is aware that Russia will violently object to their transit.
According to League of Nations circles, Italy is insisting on the immediate release of the planes that Germany has detained en route to Finland, says a Geneva message.
Germany maintains that, according to international law, she is not obliged tq permit the transit of war materials, and can decide each case on its merits.
