Farewell To District Troops

This week Whangarei citizens will farewell the first troops from the district to leave for overseas. With the conclusion of final leave, 30 district soldiers will leave tomorrow for Burnham Camp, Christchurch. They will be given a civic farewell at the railway-station by the Mayor (Mr. Jones). 7 No other arrangements have been made and the men are at liberty ta please themselves what means they adoot to return to camp., 'Oil Thursday, when 100 men will return to the Papakura, Ngaruawahia and Trentham camps, a military parade will be held. Assembling at the Drill Hail, Walton Street, the men wijl march through the town, led by the Whangarei and District Pipe Band Civic Farewell. The parade will leave the Drill Hall at 10.45 under the command of Captain R. J. Lynch and will follow a route along Walton Street, Cameron Street and Bank Sti*eet to the railway station.

Special arrangements have been made for the civic farewell by the Mayor on behalf of the citizens, and then the troops will dismiss for a few brief minutes of personal farewell with members of their families. Although the departure of members of the Special Force occurs during the holiday period, it is expected that a large crowd will assemble to bid them farewell.
