Our Beaches Are Popular

Beaches around - Whangarei were extremely popular over the Christmas holidays. From Waipu it is reported that 50 campers are at Waipu Cove, and Lang’s Beach is also well peopled with campers and caravaners. Generally the campers have been earlier on the job this season than in previous years, Mr. E. T. C. Wiglcy remarked.

The Ruakaka camping ground was almost filled this morning, although ‘there were some vacant camp sites with room promised for those still wishing to pitch camp. Motorists were streaming to the beach from both north and south and the beach this morning was crowded with picnickers. Early a few showers were experienced but hot sufficient to spoil the day at the beach.

Matapourl and other East Coast beaches are similarly well patronised. Not a single bach is left untenanted.

Lower harbour bays are filled with launches and small craft.
