The Answer To “Mein Kampf”

Of course the really big answer to “Mein Kempf” is the Allied Forces on the Western Front, their fleet of planes in the air, and their ships on the sea. But, in so far as any one of the many books about Hitler, Germany, and the war can be said to give “Mein Kampf’’ a walloping knockout, it is Dr. Wilhelm Necker’s “NAZI GERMANY CAN’T WIN,” published at the end of October, by Lindsay Drummond, London, at 10/6. The importance of this book derives from the experience, knowledge and authority of the author. When we say we are sick of war books we are not strictly just to ourselves. What has tired us out is the number of such books and their bewildering confusion. of views. We are ready any time to read a book that gives us the inside facts of the situation in their rightly balanced order and historical perspective. And this book is IT, for the author fought for Germany in the 1914-1918 War, and he has since held responsible positions that give him a first-hand knowledge of the German economic system. He was a representative of the largest railwayman's union in the Ministry of Transport; economic adviser to the, Thuringian State Bank; financial editor of the “Berliner Borsen-Cour-ier,” and editor-in-chief of the “Economic Adviser.” Since his escape from Germany in 1933 he has been employed by various Czech newspapers as an expert on German industry, finance and politics; and in the critical days before Munich he was entrusted with a special task by the Czech General Staff.

What Does Hitler Believe?

Does Hitler and his advisers seriously believe that Germany can win? It is largely the purpose of Dr. Necker’s book to answer this vital question. By an exhaustive survey of Germany’s military strategy he clearly proves that her military leaders have carefully weighed up their chances of success. They are aware of the superior combined power of a hostile coalition. But they have plans to deal effectively with it. Dr. Necker shows that Nazi totalitarian strategy makes use of every part of the State organisation, politics, economics, diplomacy, propaganda, and tactics, and

he produces a wealth of new and interesting material to show how the Nazis have prepared Germany politically and economically, for this war of annihilation. Dr. Necker’s book was finished in July, and, though he has added a short epilogue since Russia entered Poland, he does not otherwise attempt to deal with the situation since the outbreak of war. But its importance is shown by the fact that his estimate of the situation and the way in which German policy will work out is already being proved true. Dr. Necker’s conclusions, though supported by numerous facts from authoritative sources which he quotes, are his own. This book is therefore an authentic account of Germany’s war plans and an expert assessment of her chances of success in this war, and as such it must be of vital interest to everyone today.
