Sweden’s Finland Policy
STOCKHOLM, December 13. The new Swedish Government, in a statement issued today, says: “We will give Finland human and material help, which already has spontaneously appeared, but we will maintain our neutrality.” This is interpreted to mean that the Government will confine its assistance to ambulances and relief funds, and will not hinder private and unofficial help of other kinds. It is officially stated that M. Sandler, former Foreign Minister, tendered his resignation on December 2, the day before the German attacks on him began. It is believed that he advocated the fortification of the Aaland Islands. The Prime Minister (Dr. Hanssen) in a broadcast speech, said the Cabinet reshuffle did not mean .a change in Sweden’s course.
