It is reported from New York .that German merchantmen taking refuge in Caribbean ports are seeking to take adyantag-e of British warships’ I. •= occupation in the Rivxr Plate. An Arauca message states that the German liner Columbus (32,565 tons), which was reported yesterday to have been in Anton Lizardo Bay, has left Vera Cruz.

An earlier message said she had obtained a clearance and shifted her anchorage to a vantage point, from which it was expected to try a dash for the sea.

A Valparaiso cable states that the German vessel Dusseldorf (4930 tons), which was reported yesterday to have been loading for a week, has sailed.
