Red Troops Reach Norwegian Frontier
Soviet troops reached the Norwegian frontier when they occupied the blazing town of Salmijarvi. Norwegians mined the frontier. The Finns are retreating and have set fire to all shelter, lighting up the black sky. The snow was crimson with Russian losses. The biggest battle of the war continues at Salla, which is one of the two parallels of the thrust towards Tornio. The Russians are reported to be launching a third attack towards Kussamo, from which the road leads to Oulu.
A Finnish communique reports further Russian bombardments in the Gulf of Finland and a Finnish advance from Tolv.ajarvi.
