Pacific Air Mail Rates

WELLINGTON, This Day. Interviewed in regard to a cabled statement from America that the resumption of the Pacific air service might not be long delayed, the Post-master-General (Mr. Jones) said no definite information as to the likely date of commencement could be obtained from the Pan-American Company in New Zealand. He announced, however, that postage rates for letters would be; To New Caledonia, 1/ each halfounce; Hawaii, 2/6 each half-ounce; U.S.A., including internal air transit in the States, 4/ per half-ounce; Great Britain and Europe, via U.S.A., 6/2 each half-ounce; postcards, half the above rate.

In view of the possibility that the first mail might be at short notice, he recommended early preparation of postings of all letters.
