Kaitaia Street Improvements
The scheme put forward by the Highways Board and adopted by the Kaitaia Town Board, for street .and footpath improvements provides for sealed footpaths, kerbing and channelling on both sides of the street from, the Central Boardinghouse to Grigg’s Corner; tar sealing the full
width of the ro.ad, with kerbing and channelling and footpaths six feet wide in Redan Road from the council chambers to the bridge; the sealing of .Church Road and footpaths from the State highway to the Church Road bridge ,and kerbing and channelling right to the A. and P. hall; taf sealing for the full width, half a ■ chain back on all intersections to the 'I- State highway, namely Bank Street. ,i Melba Street, President Street, Empire Street, Blencoe Avenue, Te Reinga Street, Mona Street and Puke- - poto Road. .The; total cost of the works men- ■’ tioned will be £2OOB, and the town board’s share will be £917. * > "■■■• The permanent surfacing of the i-;. main footpaths through the business part of the town —from the county chambers to' the Central Boarding- - ! house—could be carried out at a cost id to the town board of £390 and this part' of the scheme has been held oVer . for consideration : .at a special meeting. The remainder of the scheme has been adopted. The width of footpath to be tar sealed between the Central Boardinghouse and Grigg’s Corner is, with the exception of about a chain, to be six feet.
The first chain to a point a little past Wilson-Morris’ service station, will be sealed for the full width.
