Conscription Report Denied
[Special io “Northern Advocate ”] NAPIER, This Day,
Mr W. E. Barnard, a member of the New Zealand Defence Council, yesterday denied suggestions that the Government had a conscription scheme prepared to come into force early next year. Mr Barnard said that such a scheme had never been considered by the Government's Parliamentary caucus, and he was satisfied that no such step would be taken without it being discussed there first.
